Off the Beaten Path: Poetry in the Hinterlands

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

The Big Apple, the Hub, the Windy City, LA. What if you happen to live far from the vibrancy and variety of city life? How can you bring top-notch poetry into your own community where appropriate venues are scarce, funding is tight, and writers are scattered? Poets from the North Shore of Massachusetts and the Catskills and Hudson Highlands in New York will talk about how we have each created successful, innovative ways to nurture poetry way off the beaten path. We will offer a fresh take on the possibilities for sharing and promoting poetry locally on air, in plein air, on stage, on the page, in the laundromat, and in the roller rink. Our imaginative poetry initiatives can be adapted anywhere—even downtown! Easy-to-follow instructions for launching unique literary programs and events will be included.
