The overlaps of poetry and genres like essay or autobiography remain contested but acknowledged territory; less discussed are the depths traversed by both poetry and science fiction. They share a drive to build the world and the word anew time and time again, to situate society and self and language in strangeness. How can poets use science fiction to extrapolate from the known to chart the unknown? Panelists will read poems and discuss applying SFF tropes and themes to writing.
