Creating collaborative spaces: Tips from the Tin Box for critique circle success

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Every poet needs a circle of trusted readers, individuals whose insight into your work helps to refine, polish, and prepare it for publication. But where are these amazing people? And once you find them, how can you cultivate an ongoing working relationship with them? For more than 20 years, the Tin Box Poets have met at a local coffee shop to gently critique and encourage each others' love, not only of poetry, but of the poetic craft. During this session participants will: Learn tips to start a critique group of their own; identify simple tips to reinvigorate existing circles; understand how to navigate group dynamics; and learn how to focus critique on grammar, craft, and substance with kindness. Attendees are welcome to bring copies of their own work to share in a critique role-play exercise at the close of the session as well.
